After completing endless research, I truly believe that the committee should invest in 21.5 -inch iMac computer desktops for grades 9-12 in the High School. This computer would have 3.06GHz Intel Core i3 processor, 4GB of memory, and 500GM hard drive. The Intel Core processor is extremely fast, which will eliminate the time that students waste waiting for computers to load and process information. The students would be able to spend more time being productive. 4GB of memory will allow students to have multiple applications open while still running smoothly and efficiently. These iMac computers also come with built in Wi-Fi so students can connect to the Internet. I believe the best feature the iMac has, especially compared to a PC, is the fact that it comes with built in defenses from viruses. Unlike a PC, you do not need to by extra-anti virus software, which can be very expensive. Students also do not need to be worried about downloading dangerous files, which may cause the computer to crash. These computers automatically screen files and download software updates to protect you.
iMac computers are by far the most advanced and user-friendly computers on the market. The only downside to these systems is that they are more expensive than others. These computers cost $1199, not including the substantial educational discount. I think that we would need to purchase 30 computers in order to meet the needs of the students in the high school. Even though they are more expensive then a PC, I believe that the benefits outweigh the costs. I hope the committee will see how beneficial these iMac computers would be in the classroom and will consider this purchase.
